Kokanee Guide Service holds one of only two special use permits to operate in this refuge. Unimak is the first Island in the Aleutian chain. Known for its dense brown bear populations and controlled harvesting by a permit system, Unimak Island offers some of the very best brown bear hunting in the world, both in opportunity and trophy size. This area is a consistent producer of B&C and SCI trophies. Unimak Island offers a Spring and Fall season every year with eight permits per season. The permit application process is simple, and Kokanee Guide Service handles the application process for their interested hunters. The cost to apply is $190.00 per year and is nonrefundable.
